Biography:

As a landscape oil painter I consider nature my greatest teacher. My passion for painting the landscape began in 2007, when I was looking for a way to harness my intense creative energy. What started out as an intriguing interest became a daily pursuit and eventually turned into a commitment to a life of painting. My first impulse was to paint the beauty around me as well as impressions from places I had lived over the years. Over time I began to carve out my own artistic fingerprint.

Today my work tends toward contemporary realism mingled with tonalism. My process begins with observation, pulling from all the variety in nature. I then process what I see through my own lens, working to simplify and find designs that tell the story of a suspended moment in time. Whether working en plein air or from field sketches in my home studio, I find that making a painting is like making a poem, distilling visual information into a unique interpretation that gives new perspective. I am always looking for a balance between representation, abstract mark making, and emotional gesture. Everywhere I go there are stories in the landscape, and my work is an attempt to tell that story. I hope my paintings feel timeless and personal, like accessing a memory. Painting is a lifelong pursuit, one that will grow and change as I do, and one that has no objective end.

I have spent more than eighteen years documenting landscapes from around the country and in Europe, all the way from California to New England and from England to France to the Netherlands. I currently live in Rhode Island with my husband and our three children. I have been exhibiting since 2009, and my work can be found in private collections across the country as well as around the world, including Europe, Australia, Israel, and Japan.
